About Cloudwächter
Cloudwächter is a project from the Vienna area in Austria. The name is German for “cloud guardian”. The idea: anyone who runs a website should be able to find out in a few seconds whether it is up and secure, without expert knowledge and without signing up.
Who we do this for
For small businesses, freelancers, clubs and everyone else who has a website but no IT department of their own. Our tools answer specific questions, and our guides explain what you can do with the result.
How the tools work
Checks of websites, domains and email settings run on our server in Germany. It requests the address you enter or looks up the public DNS and registry data and evaluates it. The password tools and the checksum calculator work entirely in your browser. We do not store checked addresses or results.
We only check publicly reachable websites. Internal networks and local addresses are blocked for security reasons. The number of checks per minute is limited so the service cannot be abused.
